May 2008

At last! The crowning of the Harvest Queen Sabah 2008 went to Miss Leonie Lawrence Gontuni of Penampang! (Picture below) First runner -up went to my favourite contestant – and also the crowd’s favourite – Miss Florence Masimbin of Kinabatangan; and the second runner-up went to the lovely Miss Emily Majil of Tambunan. Gee, didn’t I hinted who will win the title in my previous post? Haha!

Unduk Ngadau Sabah State Level 2008

Apart from that, the highest votes for Miss Beautiful Celcom or Tati Tavanus Celcom also went to the charming Miss Florence Masimbin. She received a crown, a sash, RM500 cash and wow, of course she will be the new face for Celcom’s advertisements in Sabah! AND, to add to the feat, Miss Charming Kinabatangan had also been crowned as Tati Topiodo during the Gala Nite Kaamatan 2008.

I ‘received’ the news at 5.25 p.m. from my friend Aniza, who was also there to give her full support, especially to Miss Tuaran, Dierdre T. Joannes! She managed to be in the top 15 finalists. Wow! That’s a feat for a first-timer like her. I did not manage to watch the full event. I ‘quit’ half-way through the show.

Okay, okay, I know. I will update this information soon and hey, please do visit this site and sign up as a member! Haha, I’m promoting the undukngadau.com site. Savour the beauty-ness of Sabahan beauties.

Wah! Stacy rindu Pesta Kaamatan di Sabah! This petite but lovable Sabahan local from Penampang just recently won the 6th season of a reality TV show, Akademi Fantasia. Go Sabah! Go Stacy!

Haha! Cute her, she was doing the ‘catwalk’ in this video. The thing I like about her is that she is not like Nadia (FYI, I’m not for Nadia FC or whatever it is). Stacy is stacy. She’s real. Everyone can see that.

Back to who will win the Unduk Ngadau 2008, will it be Miss Kinabatangan or Miss Tuaran? Miss Penampang? Will it be Stacy? Haha! Just kidding. I really do wish Stacy will fly her magic carpet to KDCA. She’s a charm.

This is another video from youtube featuring one of the local dances in Sabah. If you ask me what dance is that, I’d say I’m not sure. Perhaps it’s the ‘mangiluk’ ( do i spell it right?). You tell me what it is.

DIET. A ‘cursed’ word for me! A synonymous word for every woman ever live on earth. *sarcastic*. Talking about this BIG – i really mean big – thing, I could not help but asking myself what on earth is this diet stuff has to be in my post.

Just a couple of days ago, whether through coincidence or fate or whatever it might have been, I was browsing through the TV channels when SOMETHING on TV caught my attention. A program ‘The Biggest Loser’ was being aired. OMG, it’s my first time watching it, plus it was the finale of the show. Hahahaha! Sarcasm struck again.

Well, it’s just so nice to explain what it has got to do with me, ehh? I’m considered as average-sized, but not one that you would vote for a beauty pageant. Hehe! Announcement: I’m a bit ‘berisi’ or fatty as some would refer it. Toning down is my biggest dream, yet it seems so hard and impractical to deal with. I’ve  been on a quite-a-regular diet of one full meal a day and a serving of oatmeal daily since 3 months ago. Wait! Didn’t I tell you I toned down at my stomach area? Seriously. But that’s just it.

The story goes like this…I’m having my 2-month semester break now. That’s the root of the problem. Eat. eat. eat. No exercise! At all. Crap. Then the show proves to be a turning point for me. I see real people with massive body and fats daring to go all out to lose weight. The biggest loser is the one losing more body fats and weight. But then again, imagination can run wild, real fiery. The question is: to do or not to do? You figure.

Before I go on babbling about these latest techs in the Malaysian market, I have a confession to make. I am still a newbie in latest gadgets and techs (kononlah, hehe), so ignore my sometimes-ignorant P.O.V.

Technologies are fast growing in our country, sometimes you think you know all-about-technology, but tadaa! you don’t! The past month, my thoughts are juggling between to apply for a celcom broadband or a streamyx package for my another year of hectics and tragic-ness at my ‘beloved’ uitm shah alam. Well, financial factor may be part of the problem, yet there are some factors to consider too.

1. If I apply for a celcom broadband, I have to buy the modem at RM499 (without contract). God, that’s considered as quite a lot of money for an undergraduate like me.

2. Celcom broadband coverage and 3G do not apply to most parts of Sabah (sadly, that includes my area, too). So, it’s not worth my money to buy the modem considering the long-term applicability of the modem at my non-3G and non-broadband place.

3. Applying for Streamyx proves to be not so convenient for me too. I’m renting a house at Shah Alam for a year only during my study there and perhaps considering applying for streamyx. But, I have to apply for a fixed telephone line, another unnecessary thing.

4. I’m not into ’sharing’ some stuff with others sometime, same goes to applying for internet connection. I prefer to be responsible paying for my own usage.

Streamyx offer quite reasonable packages recently, I’m into it! Haha! But there’s more factors to consider than Celcom broadband.

I was excited for the prices of Huawei E220 USB modem for celcom broadband. If you’re into it too, check out this site. http://www.muntada.com.my/3G-HSDPA/

Tati Tosuau and Tati Topiodo [Unduk Ngadau 2008]

I got this picture from undukngadau.com site – a site featuring Sabahan’s beauties. Two beauties were crowned with Miss Tosuau and Miss Topiodo during the Gala Nite on 29 May 2008. Miss Tosuau goes to Miss Kudat and Miss Topiodo goes to (my favourite pick) Miss Kinabatangan.

I managed to get a glimpse of all the 36 local beauties this morning at Hongkod Koisaan, KDCA Penampang. The ever-so-lovely Miss Tuaran, Dierdre Theseira Joannes, my fellow coursemate, is also another of my favourite pick. She’s a sweet girl, I should say. Beauty goes hand in hand with personality. She got the personality too!

Whatever the result might be tomorrow evening, the event is not all about winning the Unduk Ngadau title alone. Tadau Kaamatan is a celebration of a bountiful harvest, to appreciate what we have.
